Balance First, Walk Later

Jennifer's story about Liam not walking yet reminded me of something. When my brother was a tot, he was a late walker - a very late walker. He turned one on August 8 and didn't take his first step until December 25 (I'll do the math for you -- he was 16 1/2 months).

Why the delay?

He, uh, had a pretty big head. And by pretty big, I mean huge. So big that they ran the battery of tests on him to be sure everything inside his huge cranium was okay (it was!). Walking? Well that had to wait a bit . . . after all, the little guy needed to balance his noggin first.

He has since grown into his head, FYI.
